Leave No One’s Health Neglect: Invest in Health Systems for All – PAHO/WHO

Invitation to the virtual high-level meeting to celebrate the
Universal Health Day 2021
LEAVING NOBODY’S HEALTH BEHIND: Investing in health systems for all
.

December 10, 2021 – 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (EST)

December 12, like every year, is the day we celebrate World Health Day (also known as Universal Health Coverage Day). This day is of great significance throughout the world and particularly in the Region of the Americas, as it represents a new opportunity to remember that universal health means that all people, everywhere, have access to quality health services, when and where they need it, without exposing them to financial difficulties and with interventions that allow them to have a healthy life for their development and human well-being.

The COVID-19 pandemic has once again highlighted the links between health, economy, environment and social protection policies and mechanisms. Unfortunately, as countries continue to grapple with the pandemic and look to recovery, the public health gains reported over the past 10 years continue to be lost. Therefore, there is an urgent need to invest in building resilient health systems as a central element of the recovery and thus resume the path towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and universal health in the Americas.

With this approach and under the motto “Leaving No One Behind: Investing in Health Systems for All”, we will celebrate Universal Health Day with a high-level virtual meeting led by PAHO Director Dr. Carissa F. Etienne, who, together with experts and leaders from the Americas region, will analyze how countries can sustain and increase public investment in health and social protection to build the resilience of health systems.

We invite you to join this event on December 10, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EST)
