There are many risk factors for heart disease; some are preventable and others are not. The CDC says that 49 percent of Americans have at least one risk factor. Heart attacks happen suddenly, but they normally result from long-standing heart disease. A heart attack, or myocardial infarction, occurs when the heart muscle doesn’t get enough blood. While they can be difficult to predict, there are warning signs that those at-risk for heart attacks should recognize. These warning signs can be helpful for those who want to be equipped for a medical emergency.
